Keller back on US track
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Blackburn keeper Brad Friedel must have choked on his Cornflakes last Sunday morning if glancing through the team line-ups and seeing one K. Keller in the Spurs side that played Aston Villa.
His mood would not have been improved by the knowledge that his national team rival had a good game and would be facing him in a head-to-head at the Lane a few days later.
With Kasey out of action it is to be imagined that Friedel thought he was on a home run to the number one spot in the USA's World Cup squad.
The issue might not be so clear-cut now and Kasey is going all out to make sure that national team manager Bruce Arena has a fully-fledged goalkeeping dilemma come June.
"There is no question about that," said Kasey on the fact that Friedel might have thought he was home and dry. "All I could do was just be as patient as I could, hope the chance would come and take advantage if it did.
"There's no question though, he was probably hoping that I didn't get a sniff the whole year!"
Kasey's entrance into the first team means he will not be heading to the Confederations Cup with the USA.
"I was going to possibly go with the States for a tournament, but he (Arena) gave me permission that if I was playing I could stay here. If I did go and I was needed to come back and play I would have been released.
"He wanted me to play here. He knew that the best thing for the national team was me playing for Spurs for as long as possible.
"It's only two games, we've got a lot of games this month, I'm just going to keep working hard every day and make as difficult for the manager here and the national team manager not to pick me as I can."
