Keeping up

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

With Kasey Keller back from a loan at Southampton and Rob Burch out at West Ham, it seemed a good time to catch up with Hans Segers for the latest on the goalkeepers at the club...

Paul Robinson
Hans: "I'm very pleased with Robbo. After 17 matches, if you keep eight clean sheets, almost 50 per cent in the Premier League, that's seriously good going. I'm over the moon for him. He works hard, wants to improve and the battle is on now because he's England's number one but there are a few other goalkeepers in the hunt as well. One wants his place back in James and Kirkland wants to get back in as well. So he's got his work cut out but he's responded well, he's positive. He has a great presence and with his ability dealing with the back pass, 75 per cent is with your feet nowadays and Robbo is one of the best in the business."

Kasey Keller
Hans: "Kasey played four matches for Southampton and the feedback was very positive. He played really well down there. It was a shame for Kasey that Niemi got fit again from a knee operation. I watched the games as well and overall, I'm very pleased with his performances. It's not been easy for him because he's not played competitively in the Premier League for a few months so to throw him in at the deep end he did very well. One of the games was against Manchester United and he had a similar game as he did there last season with us when he made save after save. It was an important loan for him and us as well because he hasn't been playing here so to get him loan was ideal."

Robert Burch
Hans: "We were desperate to get Robert somewhere and just as we got him out to West Ham, two other clubs came in for him on the same day, so Burchy's quite in demand! The move to West Ham was a good choice for him. He'll be on the bench with the first team but at least he'll have regular reserve team football, that's what he needs to go to the next level."

Marton Fulop
Hans: "To get Marton on the bench already was a bonus for us because we didn't expect him to be ready. But the lad's done well in training, been involved with the first team and for him, it's another level. He's tasted the big games so I'm looking for a good response for him because he'll now miss out again with Kasey coming back."
