Keen on Keane

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Chris Hughton believes Roy Keane has lost none of his hunger and remains the driving force behind Manchester United.

Having missed out on playing against him, coach Chris finally met the midfielder at close quarters in his role as Ireland's assistant manager when Keane returned to the Irish fold for the last round of World Cup qualifiers.

Now Chris is helping Jacques Santini prepare for Keane and United at the Lane in the Premiership on Saturday.

"I've known Roy over the years but not so well, our careers didn't really cross over," explained Chris at Spurs Lodge.

"One thing I learned and felt from him since he returned to the Irish squad is that he's lost none of the hunger and drive he's had over the years.

"I saw in a newspaper article recently where he was critical of his own performance and I think he is his own biggest critic because he expects such high quality performance of himself that he finds it difficult when he doesn't reach it.

"If I look at the periods he's been out I see him as no less a player and the real driving force behind United.

"You always have different types of players that can drive others on and motivate and, at United, he is the main one."

Chris is looking forward to a fascinating clash as we seek to protect our unbeaten start to the season.

"It's always a fantastic game to play irrespective of what side United have out or how they are doing," he added. "We've had some fantastic games and I'm sure this will be another.

"People have talked about their start to the season but look at the quality of the side, Ferdinand, Saha, Van Nistelrooy all coming back in, they have so much quality that their squad will always see them through.

"Rio has been out for a period of time but you are talking about someone who, when fit, would generally be in the United and England teams. That just about speaks for itself."
