Keegan on Hoddle

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Manchester City boss Kevin Keegan has paid tribute Glenn Hoddle's work at Spurs and suggests that Monday's Maine Road encounter could be a 'classic'.

Keegan says that returning as manager to a club you have played for is a definite benefit - one which he feels Glenn is reaping here at the Lane.

"I think Glenn is doing very, very well at Tottenham," said Keegan. "Going back to manage a club where you have played is a major plus. You know what the fans want and what they are used to.

"You know what they talk about, the eras that really interest them and the players that caught their imagination. You have the inside track a bit, as I found at Newcastle and it does help though it is not on its own enough."

Looking ahead to the game, Keegan says there is a likeness in a approach between himself and Glenn.

"Glenn and I hold the same footballing philosophies. Spurs play a similar way, he may come with a back four, but when he started at Swindon as player manager he liked the three centre halves like I do.

"Dare I say this match could be a classic. They are at a stage beyond us, they know they belong in the Premiership but they are trying to get into that top six.

"We are a club which is not sure if we belong in the Premiership and we are dreaming about the top six, so the match will be a good test for us.

"If we win it we will be one point behind them so we are the right side of them. We have to take advantage of the fact that we won our last home game against Bolton well and then picked up four points from six from our two away games.

"What now can we do against Spurs, who are a side which can beat anyone on their day? The game represents for us a pretty good challenge for us to see where we are this season."
