Kasey on The King
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Kasey Keller, for one, is not surprised at the way Ledley King has slotted so comfortably back into first team action after a long spell out through injury.
Ledley suffered an Achilles injury towards the end of last season that forced him to missed the European Under-21 Championships in Switzerland and then, while out running during the summer, sustained a hip problem that kept him out until the reserve fixture against Chelsea at the end of October.
He featured in another reserve game against Leicester at the Lane and that was all it took to convince the boss that he was ready for the call back to first team duty.
Three games in and Ledley has showed the solid, composed defending that earned a first England cap earlier this year.
"I knew that was going to be the case - or I hoped it was," said Kasey of Ledley's successful return. "He's a very talented young man and if he stays fit and focused there is no reason why he can't be one of the top defenders in the league for many, many years to come."
Kasey can relate to Ledley's composure and unflappable manner on the pitch and confirms that it is certainly to his benefit. Much the same has been said about Kasey over the years.
"So smooth. That's a very good trait - especially at a young age. When I was younger people used to say that about me, but I didn't feel that way inside. I feel a lot more the way I look now.
"For Ledley I'm sure that's part of it as well. To look like he's playing under as little pressure as he does is very comforting."
