Kasey on half-time challenge

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Kasey Keller concedes that the team were slow out of the blocks against Manchester City on Sunday and were challenged to respond at half-time.

The home side, on the back of a sticky run of form, were quickly into their stride at the City of Manchester Stadium and were rewarded for their endeavours with a tenth minute goal from Nicolas Anelka.

They remained pretty much on top for the remainder of the first half and Kasey says the team were happy to avoid further punishment.

"Definitely, we were a little bit slow coming off the blocks," he reflected back at Spurs Lodge. "It was difficult for us going up there, they have been going through a tough time, had a home game and were trying to prove something.

"They came out sharper than us and fortunately enough we kept it to the 1-0 at the break. David wasn't too happy at half-time and let us know that.

"He basically just challenged us to respond. Thankfully we did, got the goal, but either team really could have got the winner. A draw it is and back to White Hart Lane next Wednesday."

The half-time introduction of Stephane Dalmat appeared to make City slightly wary down the right flank and, although the French midfielder did not make a direct attacking impact, Kasey reasons that his presence can put teams on the back foot.

"In the first ten or fifteen minutes he kind of worried them a little bit. He put a couple of dangerous balls in and it is nice to have players that people might be a bit afraid of.

"I remember coming up against people like Les Ferdinand and thinking 'oh boy, this is going to be a fun one...' and Stephane has that sort of quality where people think beforehand that maybe they'd better drop off an extra yard," Kasey added, before agreeing that Shaun Wright-Phillips caused similar anxiety at the other end when he came on the pitch later.

"He did exactly the same thing, he came on, gave them some speed and kind of got inbetween Ledley and Jacko a couple of times. He was dangerous and there was a couple of cut backs where we could have been in trouble."
