Kasey earns his spurs
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Kasey Keller reflected that he was always confident of securing the No.1 spot at Spurs following his recruitment in August 2001.
The former Millwall and Leicester keeper signed on as back-up to then first choice Neil Sullivan from Spanish outfit Rayo Vallecano and had to bide his time in the first season, making just nine appearances but, crucially, featured in the final seven of the campaign.
He made enough of an impression during that spell to start the 2002-03 season and has remained in place ever since.
"I came in full of confidence in my own ability, knowing if I was given the opportunity I could take advantage of that," said Kasey, now set to be challenged by new singing Paul Robinson.
"I came in, waited my time, took advantage and really decided to make the position my own. I'm glad I was able to achieve what I had in my mind to do."
Kasey has had to overcome more than a few bumps and bruises to cement his two-season ever-present record, a relationship with pain - as he often describes it - that has certainly been to our benefit.
"You get that lucky break with injuries - a knock is not as bad as you thought it was, or a deflection doesn't break your finger.
"That's all part of having the right break at the right time."
