Karen reflects on ladies' success

14 February 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Karen Hills reflected on Spurs Ladies’ achievement in reaching the Ryman Cup Final and stated: “The hard work starts now!”

The ladies dominated their semi-final against Gillingham to run out convincing 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Kaite O’Leary (2) and Leah Rawle.

They will now face Charlton in the final - date and venue to be decided.

It’s been a fine season so far for the ladies. They are in the shake-up for a top four finish in the FA Womens Premier League South, have reached the fourth round of the FA Women’s Cup for the first time in 20 years - they travel to Derby on March 8 - and now a cup final to look forward to.

“It was interesting after the semi-final, some of the girls were a little disappointed with their own performances, but I told them it was about getting the job done at that stage of a cup competition,” said Karen.

“That does show the standards we’re setting for ourselves though, everyone wants to be consistent week in, week out and that’s one of the reasons why we’re progressing so well.

“I said to the players that we need to keep our standards high. We’re on track. We’ll enjoy getting to the final but now the hard work starts in trying to win it and we need to make sure we’re ready for the challenge because we beat Charlton 5-2 earlier in the season and they won’t want us to do that again.”

The ladies travel to Oxford for a friendly on Sunday.
