Martin Jol felt Wednesday night's 3-2 win in the UEFA Cup Round of 16 second leg against SC Braga - and progress into the quarter-finals - typified our season.

In control from the first whistle, we found ourselves behind when Tom Huddlestone inadvertently flicked a free-kick into his own net after 25 minutes to level the tie at 3-3.

However, we soon responded as Dimitar Berbatov stamped his class on the game. He scored two fine goals in 13 minutes to put us firmly in the driving seat, latching onto to Robbie Keane's inch-perfect pass after 28 minutes and then crashing home a volley after controlling Huddlestone's quick free-kick with 41 on the clock.

Any thoughts that the tie was over were put to bed when Andrade drilled home a free-kick just after the hour before Steed Malbranque, from Berbatov's assist, finally wrapped it up with our third for a 3-2 win on the night and 6-4 aggregate victory.

"It's probably the story of the season - exciting," reflected Martin.

"In the first half we should have scored three or four goals at least, we didn't do that but having said that, I don't think Braga created many chances.

"They scored with an own goal through Tom and then the free-kick with the big hole in the wall, so that made it exciting.

"I think we should have had two penalties in there as well and that would have made it easier.

"Dimitar set-up the first goal with a one-two with Robbie Keane, the second goal was a great goal and he set-up the third goal with a one-two with Steed Malbranque, so I'm very happy with him."
