Just right for Reid
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Andy Reid was encouraged with how he settled both on and off the pitch in his first six months at the club.
The Republic of Ireland winger - back in World Cup qualifying action for his country in the Faroe Islands tonight - joined us with Michael Dawson from Nottingham Forest in January.
He appeared to grow and grow in confidence as he adapted from the Championship to the Premier League - underlined by his stunning strike against Aston Villa on May 1.
“It’s gone quite well and I’m happy,” reflected the 22-year-old. “I’ve settled into the team and at times done quite well although I know I’ve still a lot to learn. I’m learning all the time.
"I’m happy that I’ve got six months under my belt and I can look forward to next season.”
Did he find it hard to adapt? “I knew I had the ability to play in the Premiership so I wasn’t too worried about it although it does take a bit of getting used to.
“I think the times I found it hard was in training because the players here are so good. The quality of the players has been the biggest thing for me since my move, they are top drawer.”
Andy also emphasised how important it was to be settled away from the football.
“All the lads have been good to me as has everyone at the club both on and off the pitch. I’ve got somewhere to live now and I’m enjoying my time here. That helps. You need to be settled. I stayed in a hotel for nearly two months and it felt more like two years. Thankfully, I’ve settled well now.”
