Juande Ramos fully intends to convert any lead into maximum points against Wigan on Saturday.

Juande Ramos fully intends to convert any lead into maximum points against Wigan on Saturday.

We’ve led six of our last seven league games but only managed to beat Portsmouth and West Ham – Manchester City, Newcastle, Blackburn and Middlesbrough all fought back to

Now we face a Wigan side on the up under Steve Bruce especially at the JJB where they’ve won eight of 16 games this season including four wins and a draw against Arsenal in their last five.

“I’d like to maintain the same level of performance over 90 minutes,” stated Juande. “We had a great start against Middlesbrough, went ahead and had chances to score a second goal but little by little Middlesbrough grew in confidence and for one reason or another, they managed to come back.

“I don’t think scoring a second would mean it’s game over, but obviously the bigger margin in the scoreline, the more calmly the players can play.

“With the score at 1-0, a mistake or good play by the other team means they can draw level again. Certainly, we’ve not made the most of goalscoring opportunities we’ve made.”

Meanwhile, Juande updated us on Ledley King.

"Today’s newspapers have made a great deal out of my comments concerning Ledley King, which were made in relation to him remaining as Club captain next season. So there is no misunderstanding, Ledley is handling his recovery well and we fully expect him to be here at the start of next season."
