Joy for Rob
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Robert Burch was in an upbeat mood after keeping a clean sheet in his first senior appearance for two years against Reading.
The goalkeeper was called into action shortly before the break after Radek Cerny sustained a cut head following a collision with the post that Reading midfielder Steve Sidwell had just struck in the home side's best goalscoring opportunity of the half.
Rob has not enjoyed a taste of first team action since featuring strongly in pre-season two years ago when he played in both matches on the tour to South Africa.
"When you are on the bench you have always got to be prepared to come on and Radek is not seriously injured so, in a way, it has been perfect," he reasoned after the game.
"I hadn't played this pre-season, there are a lot of keepers at the club, even with Robbo out we have two top keepers in Radek and Marton Fulop. It was a privilege to get the chance to play, it was good to come on just before half-time and I think things went well for me in my first game. Hopefully there are more games I can play in.
"South Africa was two years ago now. It was one of my highs and I will now savour this and hope I have impressed Martin.
"I've been involved with the first team group throughout pre-season and feel quite sharp. I came in with Perry Suckling over the summer a fair bit and came back flying. Training has been going well but I haven't been playing games, so it is great to get my season going now."
