Joy for Jol
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Martin Jol was delighted with our five-star performance against Everton - saving special mention for Dean Marney.
The young midfielder was a late replacement for injured Michael Brown but was the star of what was a super show on New Year's Day as we toppled the high-flying Toffees 5-2 at the Lane.
Dean scored twice and had a hand in another two goals on his full home debut as we climbed back into seventh place in the Barclays Premiership on Saturday night.
Reto Ziegler and Pedro Mendes also bagged their first Spurs goals and Robbie Keane tapped home the other in what was a fantastic display.
Head Coach Martin beamed: "You have to put everything in perspective and Southampton was terrific for us because we had not scored five goals at home before.
"This is the second one and overall, after 90 minutes, we played our best football.
"I'm a bit lucky because yesterday we were worried because Jermain Defoe couldn't play and Michael Brown couldn't play.
"But I said to other people 'I know Dean Marney and he's a terrific talent, he's a complete player.'
"It's his first home game for the club and scoring two goals and make another one is amazing, it's a real achievement for a young boy.
"The first goal was decisive, he knew exactly what he was doing. The second goal, he looked up and banged it in the corner, so I'm pleased with him."
