Josh Onomah reserved praise for young full-back Kyle Walker-Peters after Monday’s goalless draw with Leicester City in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League.
Both Josh and Kyle lined up for Ugo Ehiogu’s side after helping our Academy reach the Fifth Round of the FA Cup Youth with a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday night.
Kyle got forward from right-back to score our second goal against Wolves, but showed his versatility by putting in an energetic performance on the left side against an older Foxes side.
Central midfielder Josh, who recently made his first team debut as a substitute in our 4-2 win against Burnley in an FA Cup Third Round replay, spoke highly of his youth team colleague after Monday’s stalemate and felt missed chances cost us three points.
“I thought Leicester were very good. Being a big side, they made it difficult for us,” said the 17-year-old.
“We had a few chances in the game, so did Leicester, but we should have come out on top. We were a bit sloppy in the final third, the final pass wasn’t there, so hopefully next time we’ll take our chances.
“I thought Kyle did very well. We’ve both just played in the FA Youth Cup and he played well there as well. He’s good on the ball and hopefully he’ll build on his performance today in the future.”
