Josh and Kyle help Young Lions into last four

15 July 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

Josh Onomah and Kyle Walker-Peters both played 90 minutes as England Under-19s secured their place in the semi-finals of the European Under-19 Championship with a game to spare thanks to a late 2-1 victory over the Netherlands today (Friday, July 15).

Full-back Kyle came into the starting line-up after featuring as a second half substitute in the Young Lions’ 2-1 win over France earlier this week while midfielder Josh retained his place in the side.

Sam Lammers gave the Netherlands an early lead in Ulm, Germany, but England levelled through Dominic Solanke before his Chelsea colleague Izzy Brown snatched victory in stoppage time.

The Young Lions now sit top of Group B after two games and are assured of their spot in the competition’s last four ahead of their final group game against Croatia on Monday.

England have also qualified for next year’s FIFA Under-20 World Cup as a result.
