Jose still available

English Barclays Premiership

Director of football David Pleat is determined not to allow Jose Dominguez to waste away at Spurs. The Portugese winger who joined us in the summer of 1997 is out of manager George Graham's plans and available for transfer.

Pleat revealed: "One or two clubs have looked at loan situations. We have a couple of Division One clubs who have asked about his availability but he has a slight Achilles strain at the moment. Hopefully he will be fit soon and then we can see about placing him.

"He could have a frustrating time this season but if it is possible to help players then in a way we have a duty to do so. If he is not going to be utilised and we can find a satisfactory solution we will."

The former Sporting Lisbon star talked to Greek outfit PAOK Salonika earlier this summer but the possibility of a deal seems to have fallen flat. Pleat added: "It is right that Jose spoke to PAOK Salonika a few weeks ago but couldn't come to an agreement.

"There is a possibility we could sell him. The opportunity to sell was with the Greek side and we've been fair I think. Gerry Francis paid L1.6m for Jose and three years later, if he's not in the team, his value cannot increase. We would sell."
