Jon's cup of cheer

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

David Pleat believes Jonathan Blondel will benefit for his first start for the club in the Carling Cup win at Coventry City.

The Belgian star, back from a broken finger, played on the left side of a four-man midfield in the 3-0 second round success at Highfield Road.

Still only 19, Jon's workrate didn't go unnoticed by caretaker boss David Pleat while Fredi Kanoute will still be wondering how he failed to convert his wonderful low cross in the first half.

"Jonathan did alright," said David afterwards. "He worked hard and kept our shape for us because we changed to a 4-4-2 system.

"We wanted a left footer out there but he didn't have enough opportunities to get a quality balls in, although he got a couple in.

"The experience will do him good and you find out something from every game."

Meanwhile, David revealed that Bobby Zamora's omission from the 16 was because of a stomach complaint.
