Jol's match reaction
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Martin Jol conceded the players 'looked in shock' early on against Charlton but applauded them for their late revival in the 3-2 defeat on Saturday.
We announced that Head Coach Jacques Santini was to leave the club for personal reasons on Friday and Martin, in charge on Saturday, said it could be of little surprise that the players appeared affected by the situation as Charlton raced into a 3-0 lead at the Lane.
However, a penalty and sending off of Shaun Bartlett completely changed the game as Robbie Keane scored from the spot and we laid seige to the Charlton goal.
Jermain Defoe soon made it 3-2 but despite being camped in Charlton's half, the equaliser proved elusive.
"It was a big surprise for us on Friday but we have to go on," said Martin.
"The first half we saw that it wasn't easy for the players. We didn't do things differently. The only thing we did was play Robbie Keane on the left instead of Ziegler, the rest was the same formation. A few players looked tired.
"I was not happy when I came out because they scored for 3-0 and you really have problems as a coach. It was a nightmare.
"But after that we showed great character to come back and we could have easily had a draw, with some luck."
