Jol's leap of faith

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Frank Arnesen agreed that Martin Jol displayed great faith in the future prospects of the club by agreeing to join up as first assistant to Jacques Santini.

The former West Brom and Coventry player was building up a considerable Head Coach pedigree of his own during spells at Roda JC and RKC Waalwijk, winning the Dutch Players and Coaches Coach of the Year in 2002 and the Dutch Football Writers Coach of the Year in 2001.

Arnesen revealed that the services of Jol were coveted by other clubs and is delighted with his leap of faith.

"That is right and I know he had offers from abroad," said the Sporting Director. "I know him, of course, from Holland and I have followed his career for the past 15 years.

"He has done a marvelous job at different clubs over that time and he is the same as me - he wanted to join a Premiership club.

"I asked him to join us as an assistant and, I must say, he didn't hesitate at all. I think it is very, very important to the club that he has come in.

"I know him as a tactical, very good trainer who is very good with his players. Together with Jacques I feel he will do very well."
