Jol rues lack of second goal

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Martin Jol gave credit to Forest after Sunday's 1-1 draw in the fifth round of the FA Cup but felt a second goal in the first half would have made all the difference.

As it turned out, we had to wait until the final seconds of the first period before Forest's debutant young keeper Colin Doyle allowed Jermain Defoe's free-kick to slip through his fingers and over the line.

The visitors had still managed to create chances even though we'd had the of that first half and they levelled when Gareth Taylor took advantage of a mix-up between Paul Robinson and Ledley King 10 minutes into the second half.

Both sides created chances after that but the best fell to Forest's impressive 21-year-old Kris Commons minutes before time - Robinson at his best to save after Commons beat four players on a dribble into the box.

Head Coach Martin reflected: "I thought if we could score a second they would have to open up and it will be an easier game.

"We did everything right in the first half. We had five or six good chances, they had three. It is always difficult if you don't score a second.

"In the second half we had two volleys in the 18-yard box, a chance for Defoe and a chance with Mido so we could have scored a second one.

"But at the end they could have scored a second, so all credit to them. Maybe we are happy to go there and play another 90 minutes. But it will be harder there."

As for Forest's equaliser, Martin refused to point the finger at any individual. "There was confusion at the back because it was a floated ball, not really a pass. We tried to play offside and we shouldn't have. Robinson had to come and it was too far. It was miscommunication."

The replay is at Forest's City Ground on Wednesday March 2, kick-off 7.45pm.
