Jol on Feyenoord

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Martin Jol says we face a tough test in the Kappa Cup tonight against a Feyenoord outfit he expects to challenge for the Dutch title next season.

First assistant coach Martin knows the Rotterdam side well after his six years as coach of RKC Waalwijk in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Third last season, Martin says Ruud Gullit's men won't be far away this time around.

"They are a very young, talented side who will compete for the Dutch title next season so it will be a difficult game for us," he said.

"Van Hooijdonk left last season for Turkey. He was their best player, always scoring 25, 30 goals and they had a difficult season without him.

"But they have brought in a few new players and have good young players up front in Dirk Kuyt and Thomas Buffel, a Belgian international.

"They play with wingers, a modern Dutch style. Perhaps they are weaker in defence. That's what was said last season, anyway."

Meanwhile, Martin is looking forward to meeting Gullit's assistant - his former assistant at RKC Waalwijk, Yugoslavian Zeljko Petrovic.

"Gullit contacted my assistant and I told him he had to go over there, Feyenoord are a massive club, play in front of 50,000 every week and perhaps the biggest club in Holland," recalled Martin.

"Zeljko used to play for PSV and the Yugoslavian national team. He is a lovely man, very likeable and a good friend of mine.

"He is a big name in Holland and I look forward to seeing him again. It's funny, one of those things that happens in football. It's a small world."
