Jol: I'm a lucky man
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Martin Jol reflected on his super substitutions in the 2-0 win against Fulham and smiled: "I'm a lucky man."
Fredi Kanoute broke the deadlock with his first notable touch after 76 minutes - a lovely curling free-kick just four minutes after being thrown into the action by the Head Coach as substitute for Jermain Defoe.
Robbie Keane then entered the fray for Mido and secured the points with a goal in injury time.
Martin said: "When Defoe is on the bench he comes on a scores, Keane comes on like he did the other day against Portsmouth and scores and unbelievable goal and now Kanoute, he took a gamble by taking a free-kick and he was right.
"I didn't even know he was a free-kick specialist. We normally have Carrick, Defoe and a left-footed player around the free-kicks.
"Kanoute never takes free-kicks and wasn't supposed to, but he took a gamble and I said to him afterwards he was right to do that. I liked what he did because it shows mental strength.
"We couldn't break Fulham down in the first half but we played much better after half time. Defensively we weren't immaculate and we should have finished them off earlier in the match.
"Fulham came here to keep a clean sheet, which made life difficult for us. We had to find a solution and we did that. This was a big win for us because we needed the points."
