Jol expecting tough test
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Martin Jol has insisted we’ll be taking Friday’s friendly against Mauritius as seriously as any other fixture.
The focal point of this brief end of season tour will take place in front of a packed Anjalay Stadium at 6.30pm local time, 3.30pm UK.
Mauritius are currently ranked 143 in the FIFA rankings and just missed out on the group stages of African qualifying for the 2006 World Cup when they lost to Uganda on a ‘golden goal’ after the two-legged tie went into extra time.
“We don’t know the team and although they don’t have a big reputation, you can imagine they will be a pretty tough team to beat here,” said Martin.
“It’s not the best pitch in the world, so we have to cope with that and we have to prepare ourselves otherwise we’ll end up with something we won’t like.
“This is probably their most important game of the year. The President of the Mauritius FA said it was a dream for them to have us here so we have to approach it the right way and we will do that.”
