Join Spurs legend to raise money for SOS Children
This is your chance to help a true Spurs legend raise money for a fantastic cause close to all our hearts.
David Howells, part of our famous 1991 FA Cup-winning side, has pledged to run the British London 10k on Sunday 8th July for our official charity partner, SOS Children.
And the world’s largest charity for orphaned and abandoned children have still another 7 places available for Spurs fans to run alongside ‘Howellsy’ on what will be a memorable occasion for those involved.
David came through the ranks at White Hart Lane, scoring on his debut in 1986, before going on to make 335 appearances for the Club, scoring 27 goals from midfield.
He played alongside some true greats during his spell in N17, which came to an end in 1998, including Paul Gascoige, David Ginola, Teddy Sheringham and Jurgen Klinsmann – so he’ll no doubt have plenty of stories to share!
Nowadays, David continues to keep himself in shape by turning out for the Spurs Legends team on a regular basis, so have you got what it takes to keep up with him?
To secure your place to run for SOS Children alongside David Howells, all you need to do is send an email to email@example.com requesting a registration form. Once we have received your completed registration form and payment (£35) you will be automatically entered into the race – but don’t waste time as those 7 places are up for grabs on a first-come-first served basis.
“SOS Children play a vital role in providing a home and loving family for some of the world’s most vulnerable children and it’s a cause very close to everyone at Spurs,” said David.
“The players are fully supportive of the charity, each sponsoring an child every year, and I have decided to take this great opportunity to show my support.
“I’d like to invite fellow Spurs fans to join me in taking on this memorable challenge and to help raise money for a fantastic cause in the process.”
The British London 10k is one of the most prestigious and sought-after 10k road races and has been a sell-out event each year with over 25,000 participants filling the streets of the capital, including athletes and celebrity runners.
The race will take you through the heart of central London, passing many of the city’s iconic landmarks such as Big Ben, The London Eye, St Paul’s Cathedral, Trafalgar Square and Westminster Abbey.
Starting just days ahead of the 2012 Olympics, the buzz and excitement in London at this time is sure to make the race a special occasion.
SOS Children ask runners for a pledge to raise just £120 to support their work caring for orphaned and abandoned children around the world.
The easiest way to generate this sponsorship is by creating an online fundraising page. SOS are registered with Justgiving and Virgin Money Giving, so you can use either, and we will promote your page to fellow fans to help you raise as much as possible!
Once entered, SOS will send you a running vest to wear during your training, and the race itself, as well as a Challenge Pack to kick-start your fundraising.
