John's defining moment
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
John Gorman has described the final home game of last season as a special turning point in the relationship between the team, management and fans.
The Lane was a cauldron of noise and unqualified support that day in May - and the fact has not been lost on John, who says the support the team have received has been excellent ever since.
"The fans that day and since then have been absolutely magnificent," purred John "They got right behind us and we put on a cracking performance to beat United. It would be nice to get a similar result on Saturday.
"Yes I think it was a defining moment. That was them appreciating what we are trying to achieve. The annoying thing is that we've not achieved it yet!
"We're close, very close to playing the way we want. We got an excellent result at Sunderland and we played very well against Chelsea and Liverpool and got nothing.
Having put on stirring performances in the last three games, despite being unfortunate to get nothing out of two of them, the team must approach the United game with a degree of confidence.
"There is no reason not to be, to be honest, even though it is Man Utd. Every time you play them you do raise yourself, that's the one good thing about it. But they are a quality team and you don't know what team they are going to play. They have always got someone to come in to change the team around.
"We showed last year even with a young side how up the boys were even at the last game of the season and they put on a wonderful display.
"It was disappointing to lose the two games, and it would be nice to play equally as well against United and come out with the three points because we feel we deserve to have more points on the table.
"It is early days, and if we can string a run together after Man Utd, we've got some good games coming up, games we are capable of winning. If we can get a result on Saturday, which would push us up the league a bit more, we can then be looking for a good spell."
