Jermaine Jenas can reflect on recent good times at Wembley - he'd love a repeat in Sunday's Carling Cup Final. The in-form midfielder earned recall into Fabio Capello’s first England squad at the start of the month and bagged his first England goal, the opener in the friendly win against Switzerland at the famous stadium.
Now he’s back and aiming for a club and country double when we take on Chelsea. “Scoring for my country at Wembley was something special and to do the same in a cup final for Spurs would be right up there in my career,” said JJ.
“I came on against Brazil last year as well - which isn’t a bad one either! It’s a fantastic place and hopefully, come Sunday, given the right result, it will be a fantastic occasion.
“The stadium has a real impact. It hasn’t got that historical feeling yet, but I’m sure as the games keep coming it will get that as well.
“We’re a big club and should be involved in these occasions.
“You are judged on what you achieve as a team, we’ve got ourselves in a great position and we now have to break through that barrier and achieve it.
“Hopefully it’s the start of something here.”
