Jenna shows her Schills

English Barclays Premiership

Spurs Ladies kick-off their Greater London League campaign on Sunday — with a new star on show.

Jenna Schillaci is set to start against Barnet Copthall in the GLL Premier Division at the Frederick Knight Sports Ground, Tottenham (2pm) after completing a double double last weekend.

She announced her arrival at the club with a goal for the reserves in the morning before doing exactly the same for the first team in the afternoon — two debuts, two goals, two wins.

“Jenna’s only 16 and already looks like she could be a good asset for us,” said secretary and spokeswoman Kay Lovelock. “To play in the morning and afternoon and score in both was quite an achievement.”

Schillaci grabbed the second goal as the ladies progressed to the first round proper of the AXA FA Cup at the expense of Hastings last Sunday.

Michelle Oliver smashed a shot into the roof of the net to open the scoring, Schillaci struck in the second half and although the visitors scored late on, the result was never in doubt. Spurs now play neighbours Haringey Borough on October 29.

“The conditions were appalling, we had most of the play but didn’t really make the possession count,” said Kay. “It was a good result because we had a few regular players out.

“Helen Wilson was also impressive in goal. Her handling was great in the conditions.” Wilson has taken over from Tina Hills, pictured right, who is recovering from a nasty leg injury.

Schillaci was joined by Jenny Curtis and Jody Murphy on the scoresheet as the reserves beat Southend Reserves 3-0 in the Sue Sharples Memorial Trophy — a perfect start for new boss Sandra Brown.

The Under-15s drew 3-3 at Stevenage Borough Vixens in the Herts Girls League.

The reserves begin Sunday’s action with a GLL Reserve Division One home clash against Colney Heath (11am) before the first team face Barnet Copthall (2pm). The Under-15s travel to Luton in the HGL.
