Jenas on joining
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Jermaine Jenas took part in his first Spurs training session on Thursday before sitting down to offer his first thoughts on joining the club.
The midfielder completed his move from Newcastle United last Wednesday but international duty saw to it that he waited just over a week before stepping out in the September sunshine at the Lodge.
The 22-year-old spoke exclusively to tottenhamhotspur.com as soon as he stepped off the training pitch and he certainly seemed happy in his new surroundings as he contemplated the next chapter in his extremely promising career to date.
"It is a bit different for me and everything is new, the sessions are new, the people are new and there is a lot of get used to - but it is all going fine and I am looking forward to it all," considered the former Nottingham Forest youth team graduate.
"I've played in Europe and international level and coming down here is another experience for me. It is my second move and all experiences are good experiences and hopefully it will be another good one for me at Tottenham."
Like many of our recent signings, Jermaine reported the strong young English contingent at the club was a big attraction when it came to deciding on a switch south.
"The youth of the side and the English players that have been bought in was a big thing. There is a lot of ambition around the club and they are looking to go places - I believe we are going to go places. I want to be part of that.
"I think it is good the management and staff here at Spurs are nurturing the young English talent. It is good for the English game and, surrounding the English players, there are foreign players of great ability and experience.
"I know a load of the lads already. I've known Daws and Reidy since I was 14 and obviously know their game well. I have also been with Jermain for years and Ledley as we have been all through the England system together."
