Jan Vertonghen says we can be happy where we are as we enter the business end of the season - and is determined to provide a fitting finale.
The Belgium international played a starring role as we returned to winning ways in the Premier League at Swansea on Saturday.
Jan scored the first goal and then set-up the second for Gareth Bale as we laid the foundations for the 2-1 victory in the first half at the Liberty Stadium.
The win took us into third in the Premier League with seven matches remaining and we now switch our attention back to the Europa League and the first leg of our quarter-final tie against FC Basel at the Lane on Thursday.
“We’re up there in third, we’re in the quarter-finals of the Europa League and we can be happy where we are, but now we have to finish it, to finish in the top four and go as far as possible in the Europa League,” said Jan.
“We needed to get back on a run and Swansea away isn’t the easiest game, they made it tough for us but we won and we’re very happy.
“We’d lost three games in a row (including Inter) so there was some pressure at Swansea. It was difficult after international week but the lads did well and it was an important win for us.”
