Jan Vertonghen expressed his delight after being named Barclays Player of the Month for March.
The defender has enjoyed a fantastic first campaign for us and capped a fine March with a goal and assist in last week's important 2-1 win at Swansea.
Jan also played in the 2-1 win against Arsenal and scored twice at Anfield earlier in the month but unfortunately we were pegged back that day by Liverpool.
"I’m very proud to win this trophy," said Jan, who has played in 41 of our 46 matches so far in all competitions. "It was an unbelievable feeling when I was told about it."
Asked about his secret to scoring goals from the back, Jan said: "Perhaps opponents forget to give defenders the attention! Actually, my secret is probably Gareth Bale giving me three amazing assists! I’m very happy to score and I’m sure it helped me to win this trophy."
Everton are next up in the Premier League on Sunday as the players have to quickly recover from their efforts against FC Basel in the Europa League quarter-final, first leg on Thursday night.
"We will have to be right at the top of our game against Everton, they are a tough side to beat but we'll be ready," added Jan.
"We have big players who are used to the pressure. It’s like a final for us every game now, so we have to perform every week and every midweek.
"We know we have to win every game to be in the top four and to move into the next round of the Europa League. It’s a good pressure and a good motivation. Hopefully, I’ll score a few more goals as well!"
