Jan’s special delivery

22 December 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

One year ago, Jan Vertonghen made a Christmas delivery of goods collected by Club staff and players to the North Enfield Food Bank for people living in crisis within the local area.

The visit had a significant impact on the Belgian, who at the time had recently become a father for the first time, and he took great interest in the work of volunteers at the Food Bank and asked how he could do more on a personal level.

Following his initial visit, Jan and his partner have become regular contributors to the Food Bank and the defender has been known to stop by with goods after training.

So this year’s Christmas delivery of foodstuffs collected by the Club takes on an extra meaning to Jan and his family.

Below: Spurs TV joins Jan on his visit to the North Enfield Food Bank

He said: “It took about 30 minutes out of my day to make the delivery today – that’s nothing when you consider the situation that people find themselves in and how far the Food Bank goes towards helping them.

“So many of us have tins and boxes of food at the backs of our kitchen cupboards that are going to waste, so I encourage anyone to go online and find their nearest Food Bank as that food could go a long way to not only giving a family a better Christmas, but also a better year ahead.”
