Jan on Lyon

Jan Vertonghen expects a tactical battle against Lyon tonight.

We hold a narrow 2-1 lead going into the second leg of our Europa League, Round of 32 tie at the Stade de Gerland.

It's a fascinating encounter as Lyon have to score - a goalless draw would be good enough to take us through, although our players have underlined that we will only play our normal game, knowing an away goal could be vital for us.

Asked if he was expecting an 'onslaught' from the home side, Jan said: "I think they will come at us, they have to because we are 2-1 up in the tie.

"But I think it will be a tactical game as well. I dont think they will go all out to try and score in the first minute. I'm sure they will wait to see what happens."

It was also suggested that Lyon's determination to score might just leave a few defensive gaps for us to exploit - remembering that we've scored in 17 of our 19 away matches this season.

Jan added: "We have a lot of qualities, maybe we can dominate the game as well. We'll see how we go but of course, we have the pace to play on the break."
