Jan looking for home comforts

Jan Vertonghen is looking to turn the clock back six days and pick up where we left off against Everton when we face Palace back at the Lane on Saturday.

The defender was disappointed with the defeat at Chelsea on Wednesday after such an impressive performance and 2-1 win against the Toffees last weekend.

“Our confidence was up after the win against Everton and we all thought we could get something at Chelsea,” he said after the 3-0 loss at Stamford Bridge.

“We have to show the same level of performance that we did against Everton.

“We need to keep winning our home games and build on what we did against Everton when we play Palace on Saturday.

“We have to show a good mentality and I’m confident we’ll put the Chelsea result behind us.”

Jan said the team ‘tried to be brave’ at Stamford Bridge. “We were determined not to just drop off and let Chelsea come at us,” he said.

“We showed in the early stages that we were trying to be brave and the two goals in quick succession were a big blow. I thought we deserved more.”
