Jamie proud of Ledley
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Jamie Redknapp says Ledley King is doing himself and Spurs proud at Euro 2004 - he might yet feature again against Portugal tomorrow.
Ledley was involved for the second time in the tournament as England marched into the quarter-finals with a 4-2 win against Croatia on Monday.
Faultless in the first game against France in central defence, Ledley found himself back in a holding midfield role for a 20-minute stint against the Croats.
John Terry, who came back in for Ledley after the France game, landed awkwardly on his knee against Croatia and missed training on Tuesday.
The Chelsea man is expected to be fit for Thursday but if not, Ledley would almost certainly replace him.
"I think it's great Ledley is involved," said his skipper at Spurs Jamie, in Portugal himself for TV. "He's doing himself and the club proud.
"It was nice for him to start the first game and he did superbly against France and made no mistakes at all.
"In midfield against Croatia he showed a couple of lovely pieces of skill and guile, passed it well and nearly put Michael Owen in on goal with a bit of back spin.
"Ledley's got to be very proud of his tournament so far. He's done nothing wrong and, in fact, not just because he's a friend and we play for the same club, I thought he was very unlucky to be dropped.
"Having said that, John Terry is a very good player and there is good competition with those two at the moment."
Jamie, capped 17 times by England and a star, albeit briefly before injury, of Euro 96, believes Sven Goran Eriksson's men are on track.
"I think England are looking strong," he added. "I'm not trying to be wise after the event but I've always felt that England had a good chance.
"I thought we would get through the group and we still have the chance of winning the tournament. The Portugal game will be fantastic to watch and I'm really looking forward to that."
