Jake targets Wembley return
Jake Livermore famously scored against Barcelona at Wembley – he’d love to go back this season in the FA Cup.
The midfielder was only 19 when he headed home an equaliser against the all-conquering Catalans in the pre-season Wembley Cup in July, 2009.
Bolton stand in our way of a return to football’s most famous stadium when we meet in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup at the Lane on Saturday. The semi-finals are at Wembley in April.
“That goal feels like many moons ago!” said Jake, who has started three of our four matches so far in this season’s FA Cup. “It would be great to go back to Wembley, the heart of English football. Every player in the changing room wants to go there.
“There are no easy games and Bolton will be difficult. The FA Cup, you can never predict what will happen, but we’ll be ready. It’s another tough game for us.
“The FA Cup is a big part of our season and to get a result against Bolton to get the chance to play at Wembley is a dream. We all want to play at Wembley and we all want to win the FA Cup.”
The team is looking for a change of fortunes after Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Everton in the Premier League.
“The lads are disappointed with the results but we can take pride from the performances,” added Jake.
“We’ve worked our socks off and sometimes you get the breaks, sometimes you don’t. Hopefully we’ll finish where we deserve to finish at the end of the season.”
