Jake on Toon test
After making his debut for the senior England squad against Italy on Wednesday, Jake Livermore cannot wait for the new Premier League campaign to begin this weekend.
The 22-year-old made 38 appearances for us in the 2011/2012 season, breaking into the team after graduating from our academy.
Jake told tottenhamhotspur.com about the pride he felt at representing England and his hopes for this Saturday's match against Newcastle United.
"It was a great feeling pulling on the shirt and representing your country. Obviously the first time was great. I really enjoyed the experience. I had Jermain, Kyle and Steven Caulker there as well and it was nice to be able to share it with the lads as well.
"I’m just looking forward to Saturday and kicking on now with Tottenham.
"It will be a tough game (at Newcastle) but that’s what the Premier League is all about. I’ve said before, it’s what you come into training for every day, huge games like Newcastle at the start of the season and the England experience I had this week. It’s a tough place to go but the lads look great in pre-season, the new manager has us gelling well, we’re playing good football and hopefully we’ll go up there and get a positive result."
