Jacques happy with Fredi's return
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Jacques Santini welcomed the goalscoring return of Fredi Kanoute after Saturday's win at Nottingham Forest.
The Mali hitman played his first 45 minutes of pre-season at the City Ground after recovering from a virus last week.
And it took him 38 minutes to open his account for the summer - a clinical finish after a deft one-two with Jermain Defoe on the edge of the area.
Jacques had further to cheer on the striking front with trialist Dagui Bakari winning the penalty for Jermain to clinch the 2-0 victory.
With Robbie Keane stretchered off in our last pre-season at Rangers on Wednesday - and out for six weeks - and a host of injuries so far, it was naturally a happier Jacques in his post-match press conference.
"We played well offensively and it was good to get Fredi Kanoute back," said the Head Coach. "We need him back with the injuries up front, especially to Robbie Keane.
"The partership with Jermain Defoe worked well and that is something we hope to look again in our next games."
Jacques conceded that we didn't start the game well - Kasey Keller kept out Forest with two magnificent early saves - but was delighted we came through.
"We didn't play too well for the first 20 minutes but after that we did well," he added. "It was also the first match we haven't conceded a goal and that is very important for the goalkeepers and the defence.
"I was happy for the players to win."
