Jacko's turn for the worse

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Injury struck another of our players when midfield starlet Johnnie Jackson was forced to withdraw from the England under-18 team that faced Switzerland in Grenchen on Tuesday evening.

‘Jacko’ is the second of our young talents to miss out on international duty in recent weeks, following Matthew Etherington’s foot injury that ruled him out of England under-21 action.

"I didn’t play because I got injured, but we lost 1-0," said Jacko.

"I got injured in training, my ankle has come up, I must have turned it during training. It’s swollen right up."

Jacko may now have to spend a bit of time under treatment at Spurs Lodge - the youngster awaits news of whether part of his holiday time will be spent on the physio’s table.

"I don’t know what’s happening, they phoned Chic (Academy physio Chic Bates) for me. He’s going to get back to me to tell me what to do. I don’t know, I think the main thing is just rest. It is a blow for me."

On the match itself…

"We didn’t deserve to lose, we were on top for most of the game and had more chances, but couldn’t score. They scored one, a deflection, after about thirty minutes."

The goal was a speculative strike from Patrick Baumann which was unforutnately turned into his own net by captain Peter Clark.

"Obviously it’s disappointing to lose any game, not least the last fixture of the season but we have to take the positives and there were many that we can take even from today’s match," said coach Martin Hunter.

"We gave six boys their debuts today, and each of them acquitted themselves well in extremely tough conditions."

Jacko now faces a race against time to be fit for his summer travels and the countdown is well and truly on.

"I go in a week!"
