Jacko's Premiership bonus

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Johnnie Jackson admits that he thought his chance of a Premiership career at Spurs had passed him by when he headed off on loan to Coventry City.

The midfielder felt, at the time, that his spell at Highfield Road would act as a shop window for his talents as he had yet to make a top flight breakthrough and needed first team football having reached 21.

However, following five senior starts during which he has grown in stature, his doubts now appear far fetched and he is delighted with his change in fortunes.

"It's strange, I was reading the Coventry programme from literally five weeks ago and it was an interview with me saying I was more or less resigned to the fact that I was not going to play for Spurs," recalled Johnnie.

"It is strange how things can happen so quickly and things turn around for you," he added, before conceding that there was a hint of disappointment when he was put on the bench for the trip to Leeds two weeks ago.

"It was a disappointment in the sense that I'm involved now and want to play, but I'm realistic enough to know that I'm a young boy whose got in and if anyone has got to drop out it is likely to be me.

"I was on the bench and still involved so that was nice and I would have taken just that a couple of months ago. So I wasn't too disappointed about it, the gaffer had a word with me and told me I'd done nothing wrong."

Meanwhile, the reserve team banter kicked in for Johnnie recently when it was suggested that he had changed - got in the first team and dyed his hair ginger...

"People will always give me stick because I'm usually the first to dish it out," he quickly countered. "You've got to take it back and I hope they were only messing about. If this was happening to someone else I would probably be saying the same to them.

"It's just bad hair really. I does look blonde normally - it is just the stadium floodlights that makes it look ginger!"
