'It's great to be back!'
25 August 2013|Tottenham Hotspur
Lewis Holtby was all smiles after a successful return to action on Friday.
Not only did the midfielder complete 80 minutes for the Under-21s, but scored his first Spurs goal and helped the team recover from a 2-0 half-time deficit to secure a thrilling 3-2 win at Upton Park.
Lewis was central to the comeback at the start of the second half.
Simon Dawkins levelled, Lewis hit a cracker into the top corner from 30 yards and then Shaq Coulthirst volleyed home the winner from Ruben Lameiras’ clever assist.
Lewis was just delighted to be out there again after picking up his injury in this summer’s European U21 Championships.
“After nine weeks without a game it was fantastic to be on the pitch, to get 80 minutes of football, to have fun and play football – and to score my first goal for Spurs!” he beamed.
“We won 3-2 and it felt like our win here in the Premier League last season.
“I tried to focus on having as much action in front of goal as possible. I had a lot of shots and my team-mates really helped me, so credit to everyone for getting that result.
“To score a goal like that gives me real confidence and I feel really pleased that I’m fit and healthy. To be back out there felt amazing.”
