'It's amazing' - Mauricio and staff visit the new stadium with chairman Daniel Levy

Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff joined our Chairman, Daniel Levy, and Academy Manager John McDermott on a tour of the new stadium site on Thursday.

The party entered the site through the new North Stand and were taken around the NFL dressing room area, the new West Stand including premium areas, directors’ box and then the tunnel and changing rooms that will soon become a second home for players and staff. The tour was concluded in the lower tier of the new West Stand, adjacent to the tunnel and giving a clear indication just how close fans will be to the action.

It’s safe to say Mauricio was blown away with the work unfolding in front of us all. “I think it’s amazing, beautiful,” he said.

“It’s so difficult to find the words...I start to feel what it means, this stadium. I can only say thank-you to Daniel and I can imagine for our fans and our players the moment of their first time here, it will be an amazing day.

“The stadium will be one of the best if not the best in the world and the spirit of the people who work here, you can feel that today. It’s amazing the passion they are showing in every single detail. It’s so difficult to describe because people like us…we are so emotional for our fans and our players.”

As he stood taking it all in with assistant Jesus Perez, coach Miguel D’Agostino and goalkeeping coach Toni Jimenez, Mauricio explained that he was starting to visualise that first match.

“Today, the reality is we’re starting to think about it, starting to create in our minds the future to share with our fans, our families and the people that give everything to realise and build the stadium.”
