IT'S ALWAYS a heartwarming experience when the lads go out on their community visits and Thursday in China was no exception

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

IT'S ALWAYS a heartwarming experience when the lads go out on their community visits and Thursday in China was no exception.

Heurelho Gomes, Carlo Cudicini and Wilson Palacios travelled to the district of Daxing here in Beijing to visit the SOS Children's Village.

CLICK HERE for a full report of the visit.

There was no stopping Gomes, who was running about (or should that be 'was given the run about...') with two sprightly young kids - surely no older than three - within minutes of reaching the play area!

Gomes, who has two young children himself and is now our ambassador for SOS Children's Villages - remember, we have the Tottenham Hotspur House in Rustenburg, South Africa - was clearly moved by the visit and later declared it 'one of the most important days of my life'. Look out for his comments on the main website tomorrow.

It was all summed up on our way out, when Carlo simply held hands with one of the children.

A picture can speak a thousand words.

As I said, heartwarming stuff.

Sam Erith, our fitness and conditioning coach, pointed out that the lads lost on average two-three kilogrammes in weight OR the equivalent of two-three litres in sweat when we played West Ham inthe heat and humidity of Beijing on Wednesday night.

He also explained that this weight loss would be put straight back on via water intake - all in time to do it all over again on Friday night!

Rather them than me - I must have lost a litre in sweat climbing up to the press box!

BUMPED into Andy Dawson - Michael's brother - in the lift at the hotel we're sharing with Hull and West Ham here in Beijing.

He joked that it must be fate that he'll never play against Michael, who is missing from the trip to China because of an Achilles injury.

The brothers have yet to face each other as Michael missed both of our matches against the Tigers last season.

Thursday training

IT APPEARS that Benot Assou-Ekotto is king of the table-tennis table out in China.

As always, there was a look a absolute astonishment when asked the question as he took on Dorian Dervite. "I can't believe you asked that," he smiled. "It's me of course."

Benoit then reeled off a list of victims but it needed confirmation from Dorian, and the big defender wasn't having it.

"Tell him who is the best," said Benoit, about 10 times, but it fell on deaf ears as Dorian had no intention of dishing out such praise.

Finally, he relented, turned and whispered, 'okay, it's him...'
