'It's a dream come true' - Harry
28 November 2014|Tottenham Hotspur
Harry Winks described his debut as 'the best moment of my life'.
The young midfielder, 18, came off the bench for the final seven minutes of our 1-0 victory over Partizan Belgrade at the Lane.
In doing so, he became the seventh Academy product to feature in first team action so far this season alongside Nabil Bentaleb, Harry Kane, Ryan Mason, Danny Rose, Andros Townsend and Milos Veljkovic.
It’s been quite a progression for the England Under-19 international having broken into our Under-21 set-up last season and finding himself on the first team bench three times at Liverpool, West Brom and Benfica.
Having been around the squad, he’s now had a taste of the action.
“It’s a dream to play for Spurs - five minutes or 50 minutes I didn’t mind, as long as I got on,” said Harry.
“It was brilliant. I wasn’t thinking of anything, just to go out there and enjoy it.
“Nothing was crossing my mind, I wasn’t nervous or scared, I just wanted to go out there and play.
“It felt natural and I loved every minute of it. It means everything. We work so hard and to get the opportunity is massive for us.
“It’s a dream come true to go out there and play, especially for the team you support.”
Now a regular for our Under-21s, Harry won’t be resting on his laurels.
“I have to push on, of course. I can’t get carried away. It’s brilliant now but I have to forget about this, work hard and try to get back into the squad. I’ll enjoy the experience but it’s back to the hard work.”
