Ismail earns his Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
One of the most powerful men in African football is a huge Tottenham Hotspur fan.
Ismail Bhamjee is currently president of COSAFA (South Africa's 13-member international committee) and on FIFA's executive committee.
He met up with Spurs legend Gary Mabbutt, who has not only recently accepted South Africa's request for him to be an ambassador for their 2010 World Cup bid but, on that occasion, was also an ambassador for the club.
Gary explained Ismail's role in South African sport: "Ismail is a very influential gentleman in African sport.
"He was heavily involved in the non-racial sports movement in South Africa, holding the post as treasurer of SANROC from 1965 to 1969, he then played a pivotal role in ensuring the democratisation of South African football structures before they could be accepted back into the FIFA and CAF folds.
"He was also the former president of the Botswana National Olympic Committee and the Botswana Football Association."
Ismail and his family (all Tottenham supporters) hosted a party in Gary's honour at their home in Gaberone, Botswana, where Gary presented Ismail with a personalised Spurs shirt - with his name and Gary's number on the back.
