Irish eye on Keano
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Stephen Carr feels that 'livewire' Robbie Keane will enjoy his best years at White Hart Lane and that the fans will definitely take to our new striker.
Carr feels that his Republic of Ireland team-mate has been hampered at club level by a lack of games but, he for one, would not relish facing Keane in full swing.
"I personally think he's a very good player," said Stephen at Spurs Lodge. "I don't think he's had enough games under his belt to prove what a good player he is, but he is a little livewire.
"I wouldn't fancy playing against him because he doesn't give you a minute on the ball and he's always aware and ready to pounce if you make a mistake.
"So I think he is going to be a great asset to the team. Especially with the likes of Ted and Les, big front players who he will be able to work off very well - then there is Steffen as well and Sergei.
"It's looking good, there is a good number of choices up front for us now."
Carr adds that Keane is certainly deserving of the 'crowd pleaser' label he has earned over his short career so far - a career that has already spanned five clubs.
"Oh yes, he's definitely got a hell of a lot of ability. He can make things happen for himself, that's the good thing about him. He's got a lot of skill, can take players on and, as I say, is an excellent buy for us, to be honest.
"He's an excellent player and I think he'll do really well here. I hope for his sake he does, he's had a few moves now and I hope he can stay here for a few years now and do well."
The flying full-back agrees that, while Keane has not always enjoyed an unbroken run of games at club level, he has proved himself in perhaps the toughest arena of all - international football.
"He's always done well for Ireland, I think he'll break the record for the amount of goals scored as well. He's only 22 and it's frightening what he's already done at his age.
"He'll keep improving and getting better because he's one of those players who makes the best of what he has.
"His attitude is A1 on the training pitch, he works so hard.
"It's going to be exciting, the fans will love it, they like a bit of flair and he's certainly got that to be fair to him."
