Ipswich Town v Tottenham Hotspur

When Ipswich travelled to White Hart Lane prior to Christmas there was a significant outcome for all concerned. Not only did Town inflict Spurs' first home defeat since Manchester United triumphed so spectacularly back in September, but the Tractor Boys registered their first league win for 15 matches!

George Burley's side then proceeded to collect maximum points from their next two fixtures and would have made it four straight wins had Charlton not performed a heroic comeback at The Valley on New Year's Day. Nevertheless, Ipswich have duly hauled themselves off the foot of the Premiership.

The rejuvenated Blues continued to rebuild their previously battered confidence by ending Dagenham and Redbridge's FA Cup dream last weekend, while the Spurs playing staff were afforded a rest after their clash with Coventry fell foul of the weather. Needless to say Glenn Hoddle's team will be hungry for action and keen for revenge.

Unfortunately for the Lilywhites, Teddy Sheringham will be forced to view the game from the stands as he serves the second of a three-match ban after an incident with Town's John McGreal in the aforementioned fixture. But there may be opposing fortunes for the hosts as they could welcome back star striker Marcus Stewart, who has been out of league action since mid-November with a broken jaw.

The former Bristol Rovers predator has weighed in with five goals this term and should offer Ipswich a genuine threat up front.

If Burley's men could fine tune their accuracy they would undoubtedly be one of the deadliest team's in the top flight. Only Leeds, Arsenal and Manchester United - the top three sides in the Premiership - have unleashed more shots than Town, so Spurs have been warned.

Central defender Dean Richards was the north Londoners match winner when they defeated Blackburn last time out, but he may have to rely on his colleagues to help him out at the opposite end this time around.

Both teams need the points to fulfil their immediate goals, be it a place in Europe or Premiership survival, so a tightly-fought contest is in prospect. SurreySPORTS are offering odds of 17/2 on the hosts to run out 2-1 winners leaving the visitors frustrated and deflated.

Match referee: M. Messias

Matt Messias has only officiated one game so far this season, but he wasted no time in acclimatising himself on the big stage. Four names have already made it into his little black book, but with Ipswich and Tottenham among those in the better behaved half of the disciplinary table, he may struggle to top that tally on Saturday.

Stewart v Ferdinand

Steffen Freund and Teddy Sheringham miss out on a quick chance of revenge against Ipswich Town on Saturday. Midfielder Steffen suffered a serious knee ligament injury against Chelsea in midweek and skipper Teddy serves the second of his three-match ban after his red card in the 2-1 defeat against Town last month. Better news sees the return of Dean Richards after being cup-tied at Stamford Bridge and Steffen Iversen, who scored on his comeback at Dover on Thursday night after suffering a slight abductor strain. Goran Bunjevcevic played 45 minutes for the reserves on Monday night but is not expected to feature yet while Stephen Clemence (groin), Stephen Carr (knee), Gary Doherty (broken leg) and Chris Armstrong (hernia) are all on the road to recovery.

Town boss George Burley has a full squad to chose from with Mark Venus, Matt Holland, and Thomas Gaardsoe back in full training. Striker Marcus Stewart scored on his comeback after a fractured cheekbone in the FA Cup win at Dagenham last weekend and is expected to start. The only possible change may come in goal where Matteo Sereni is tipped to return at the expense of Andy Marshall.
