With the recruitment process ongoing, a select group of young people who have already signed up for September have been made Tottenham UTC Ambassadors.
Some of the group spent time with Andros Townsend this week, showing the winger the sort of thing that has encouraged them to join.
The England international explained that much of the science and technology UTC students will find themselves at the cutting edge of is used by him and his team-mates as they prepare as professional athletes.
Andros said: "It gets young local people together in education and gives them a real prospect of a full time job at the end of the day.
“The sports department will be working with the sort of technology footballers use on a daily basis – things like jump mats and the monitoring equipment.
“It is unbelievable for the kids to have this opportunity and from speaking to them it sounds as though they are looking forward to it.
“We’re building the new stadium here so it’s good to get involved in this and build futures for people around here. These kids are the future and it’s good for a club like Tottenham to be supporting them.”
The Tottenham UTC Ambassadors will grow with the school, engage in a pioneering way of learning and be the role models for subsequent students who choose to join.
The Club is working alongside Middlesex University, National Instruments, Mind Sets, Festo and Fusion as a joint sponsor of the new UTC, which will specialise in the Technology and Science for Sport and Health and sit alongside the new stadium development scheme.
Jessica, 14, is a budding footballer, and said: “I’m really looking forward to using the sports facilities – they look really professional and like nothing you’d see anywhere else. It’s a good opportunity to learn more about the sports I love.”
Are you ready to think outside the box? Do you have what it takes to be a pioneer of sports technology and science for the future?
