13 November 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
Jan Vertonghen was once again ever-present for Belgium as they romped to an 8-1 win against Estonia in 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying on Sunday night (November 13), rounding off a busy weekend of international action for our players.
Defender Jan played on the left side of a back three in Brussels for the Red Devils, who scored three times before the break and five times after it to pick up a comfortable victory.
Earlier in the day, goalkeeper Michel Vorm was on the bench for the Netherlands as they triumphed 3-1 in Luxembourg, also in World Cup qualifying.
Saturday’s action saw Kevin Wimmer deployed at left-back for Austria in their World Cup qualifier at home to the Republic of Ireland. The 23-year-old was substituted after 78 minutes and saw his side lose 1-0.
Victor Wanyama was also in action for Kenya, helping his nation register a 1-0 home win over Mozambique in a friendly, while out in South Korea, Josh Onomah and Kyle Walker-Peters both went on as half-time substitutes for England Under-20s as they rounded off their four-day Continental Cup campaign with a 4-1 triumph over Iran.
Elsewhere on Sunday, England confirmed that Harry Kane has been released from the Three Lions’ squad ahead of this week’s friendly with Spain while Denmark announced that Christian Eriksen will not travel to Czech Republic for their friendly on Tuesday night.
