Internationals - Wednesday action

Thu 20 November 2014, 08:00|Tottenham Hotspur

The last international match of the week involving one of our players took place on Wednesday as Emmanuel Adebayor’s Togo lost 3-1 to Ghana in their final African Cup of Nations qualifier.

Needing a win to reach the tournament finals, Togo fell two goals behind in the first half and, despite pulling one back shortly after the break through Floyd Ayite, they conceded again 20 minutes from time.

Ade was Togo’s main threat in Tamale, just failing to get his foot to a dangerous cross from the right and then nodding wide from a corner in the first period.

Only a last-ditch tackle prevented him from receiving the ball with what would have been a clear sight of goal after the break, but it was ultimately Ghana who took the points to top Group E with Togo finishing fourth.
