Internationals - Wednesday action, Thursday preview

08 October 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

It was a good day for our lads on duty for England’s youth sides on Tuesday.

Harry Winks and Nathan Oduwa went on as second half substitutes for England Under-20s as they made a winning start to the Mercedez-Benz Elite Cup in Germany by beating the Netherlands 3-1.

Meanwhile, young attackers Kazaiah Sterling and Marcus Edwards both hit the target as England Under-17s warmed up for their forthcoming FIFA Under-17 World Cup campaign with an 8-0 triumph over DR Congo.

Kazaiah netted twice in the friendly, while Marcus scored from the penalty spot after being brought down by goalkeeper Timothy Fayulu.

Both players were substituted at half-time, with goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman brought on between the sticks for the second half.

Elsewhere, Milos Veljkovic completed the full game for Serbia Under-21s as they beat Andorra 5-0 at home in a European qualifier.

THURSDAY FIXTURES

Christian Eriksen’s Denmark are away to Portugal in qualifying for Euro 2016, kick-off 7.45pm. The Danes are assured of a play-off place at least but will be keen to secure automatic qualification via a top two finish in Group I.

At the same time, Hugo Lloris and France take on Armenia in an international friendly in Hugo’s home town of Nice.

Elsewhere, Josh Onomah and Kyle Walker-Peters are with England Under-19s for a European qualifier against Macedonia.

Overnight and into Friday morning, Erik Lamela’s Argentina host Ecuador in qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.
